Flipper - The Village

I got invited to see Flipper play in The Village. For those who do not know Flipper, they are an important slow punk band from the beginning of the 80s. They were a big influence to Nirvana, which is a link to why this Flipper gig was special. Krist Novoselic (tall guy with bass in the pic), the bass player of Nirvana is currently touring with Flipper. After the show we hung out with the band backstage listening to some nice anecdotes of rock history and the music bizz. Big thanks to Franzi for taking me along.

Josh Ritter Olympia 12-12

Yay, what a way to celebrate my one year anniversary in Dublin. I visited the Olympia theater, think real old fashioned kitch theater, to see Josh Ritter. To be honest, I've never seen an artist being so happy that he is performing, wow. Such an uplifting show. Everybody had a real good time with the sing a longs. Also some nifty covers from State Trooper and Fairy Tale in New York worked out really well. As a special gift for us, and because of the Oxfam Charity album Cake Sale, two members of BellX1 joined Josh on stage to perform Vapour Trail. "Cheers to the man who sings to be adored!"

Rodrigo y Gabriela at Vicar Street

Finally I was able to catch the Spanish guitar wonders from Mexico. With their powerful Spanish guitar metal/rock covers they had the crowds eating out of their hands. A welcome change in the music scene.
